Father Daughter Dance

Lauren and Kel headed to the Father Daughter Dance again this year and had a great time! They have been going since Lauren was three and it is one of the big highlights of the year for them both. They looked amazing! I can't believe how big Lauren is getting. One of her highlights was getting to wear little heels! She was so excited!

The Unsinkable Molly Brown

The fifth grade at Johnson does a really cool project called the living timeline. The kids pick from a list of famous Americans and write a report, create a back drop, dress as the figure and answer questions about their American to the entire school and friends and family. It was a very big project and Lauren loved it all. She had some great help in the costume and art department from Grandma Jeanette! Her display was amazing and she did a great job playing the character!

Both kids had pieces of their artwork chosen for art shows this year! Cooper had a beautiful sunflower painting chosen for the Whole Foods art show. I love the colors in his artwork. Lauren was given a very special award this year called the Super Art Award. One child from each school was chosen to represent the school in the district art show. Her piece was framed and will be in the district building for one year. She was really excited and we loved the awesome cruiser mixed media piece that was chosen! So proud of both of our creative kids!

I really don't like chatting about my babies growing up, but they are, so I have to! Lauren had a great birthday month! We celebrated her actual birthday in the mountains, which is her favorite place to be. We stayed in Keystone for a few days and then spent her birthday with our friends, the Jennings, in Breckenridge. It was a great way to spend the last week of break and Lauren's birthday. We had her party a few weeks later at Foodies, which is a great new establishment that teaches the kids to cook. She picked an Iron Chef party and it was a blast! The girls cooked and giggled and just plain had fun! She had a great birthday and I'm trying to enjoy her growing up even though I wish she would slow down!

This year for New Year's Eve Kel told us that he had the night planned and it was a surprise. Honestly the kids and I had no idea what he had up his sleeve. We were lounging around in our jammies when the doorbell rang. I went to answer and it was my Mom, Larry and Sean! They were the surprise along with a night out on the town! It was the best surprise ever! Kel also planned a dinner at the Rodizio and fun at First Night Fort Collins. We were all so excited to spend New Years together. If you didn't already know it, Kel is the best!

Making Taffy With Grandpa Larry

The kids wanted to start a new holiday tradition this year with Grandpa Larry! They wanted him to teach them how to make taffy like he did when he was a kid. Grandpa was on board and we all had a blast making the yummy treat!
